Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Project Scientist – I (PS-I-01)

  • Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences/Computer Science & Engg./Information Technology or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized University with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
  • Desirable Qualification:
    • M.E/M.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology with at least first class (60% of marks).
    • Two years’ experience/knowledge in development of Scientific/Web Applications using Java, Struts, JSP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, Database (Oracle/MySQL/PostgreSQL), Linux internals, Python with Django framework.
  • Job Requirement: Role in NPDC project work; Data Management, Quality Control and Processing of datasets.

Eligibility for Project Scientist – I (PS-I-02)

  • Essential Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Electronics and Communication or equivalent from a recognized university or AICTE with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
  • Desirable Qualification: Minimum two years post qualification experience in operation/maintenance/management of satellite/radio (HF/VHF) wave communication OR Operation and data acquisition with scientific instrument for atmospheric/meteorological research and Familiarity with inventory management/ERP software.
  • Job Requirement:
    • Operations and maintenance of radio communication system and satellite communication system/ground station at Antarctic stations and NCPOR.
    • Operations and maintenance of scientific instruments including VHF radar in Antarctica.
    • Periodic participation in Antarctic Expeditions.

Eligibility for Project Scientist – I (PS-I-03)

  • Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in Physics/Applied Physics/Atmospheric Sciences/Earth Sciences or equivalent OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university with at least 60% marks in the qualifying degree level.
  • Desirable Qualification: Two years of experience in operation/maintenance/handling of different scientific instruments OR Two years of experience in atmospheric/meteorological/oceanographic data collection and analysis.
  • Job Requirement:
    • Participate in Arctic expeditions and undertake active role in operation/maintenance of scientific instruments.
    • Processing, analysis, and interpretation of climate data, leading to scientific publications.

Eligibility for Project Scientist – I (PS-I-04)

  • Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Science or Technology in Earth Sciences/Chemical Sciences/Hydrochemistry/Environmental Sciences/Environmental Biotechnology or its equivalent. OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology in Chemical Technology/Chemical engineering from a recognized university with at least 60% marks.
  • Desirable Qualification:
    • Two years of relevant experience in R&D in industrial and academic institutions or S&T organizations.
    • Experience in polar field expeditions and laboratory studies using ICP-MS for paleoclimatic studies.
  • Job Requirement: Undertake studies on the effect of changes in Antarctic cryosphere (field data, remote sensing, modelling) and scientific publications.

Eligibility for Project Scientist – I (PS-I-05)

  • Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university or AICTE or its equivalent with at least first class (60%) marks.
  • Desirable Qualification: Minimum two years post qualification experience in planning & execution of new construction projects and subsequent maintenance. Knowledge of AutoCAD software.
  • Job Requirement: Planning of new projects, Estimate and drawing preparation, preparing of Tender document, Bill preparation & processing for payment.

Eligibility for Project Scientist – I (PS-I-06)

  • Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Earth Sciences/Geological Sciences/Marine Geology or its equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant subject from a recognized university with at least 60% marks.
  • Desirable Qualification:
    • Two years of experience in petrology/ore geology/structural geology/isotopic studies.
    • Experience in operation/maintenance/handling of scientific analytical instruments like EPMA, IRMS.
    • Experience in marine scientific expeditions and sample analysis.
    • High-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Job Requirement: Participation in Scientific Cruise for geological data acquisition, processing, analysis, and interpretation; assisting in geological/instrumental analysis.

About National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR)

India began its National Antarctic Program under Department of Ocean Development (DOD) of the Government of India in 1981. A Centre dedicated to Antarctic Expeditions, named as ‘Antarctic Study Centre (ASC)’ was established at Goa in 1988. The ASC was subsequently upgraded into an autonomous institute National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR).
