Eligibility Criteria

1. Technical Trades (Vehicle Mechanic, Generator Mechanic, Electrician, Excavator Op., Welder, Boiler Op., Carpenter, Voyage Asst.)

  • Ex-servicemen/Para-military/Police: Trade work per service record with minimum 4 years of experience.
  • Civilians:
    • ITI Certification (min. 1 year) with 4 years relevant experience, OR
    • Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with 3 years of experience.

2. Specialized Positions

  • Crane Operator: Civilians need a Heavy Motor Vehicle license and 5 years experience operating hydraulic cranes (preferably >20 metric tons).
  • Male Nurse: Diploma in General Nursing (3 years exp) or B.Sc. Nursing (2 years exp). OT/ICU experience preferred.
  • Scientific Assistant: Diploma in Engineering (3 years exp) OR B.Sc. (Physics/Instrumentation) (2 years exp).
  • Radio Operator: 12th pass + GMDSS General Operator Certificate (4 years exp) OR Diploma in Electronics Engg (3 years exp).
  • Chef/Cook: Diploma (3 years exp) or Degree (2 years exp) in Hotel Management/Culinary Arts.

India began its National Antarctic Program under Department of Ocean Development (DOD) of the Government of India in 1981. A Centre dedicated to Antarctic Expeditions, named as ‘Antarctic Study Centre (ASC)’ was established at Goa in 1988. The ASC was subsequently upgraded into an autonomous institute National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR).
