Eligibility Criteria (In-Depth)

Educational Qualification

  • Vehicle Mechanic, Generator Mechanic/Operator, Station Electrician, Operator Excavating Machine, Welder, Boiler Operator & Mechanic/ Plumber/ Fitter, Carpenter: ITI Certification (Minimum one-year course) in a relevant trade with four years of relevant experience OR Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with three years working experience. Ex-servicemen/Ex-Para-military/Ex-Police Forces personnel require a minimum of four years of experience.
  • Crane Operator: ITI Certification (Minimum one-year course) in relevant trade with four years relevant experience OR Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with three years working experience. Ex-servicemen require minimum five years of experience.
  • Voyage Support Assistant: ITI Certification (Minimum one-year course) in relevant trade with four years relevant experience OR Diploma in Engineering in relevant field with three years working experience.
  • Male Nurse: Diploma in General Nursing with three years experience OR Bachelor of Science in Nursing with two years experience. Preference for operation theatre/ICU experience.
  • Scientific Assistant: Diploma in engineering (Instrumentation/Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical) with three years experience in handling scientific equipment OR Bachelor degree in Physical Sciences/Instrumentation with two years experience. Preference for laboratory attendant/project assistant experience.
  • Radio/Wireless Operator: Minimum 12th Standard passed with General Operator Certificate (GOC) and four years experience in radio communication OR Diploma in Engineering (Electronics) with three years experience. Preference for Ham Radio License or Marine Radio Operator Permit.

India began its National Antarctic Program under Department of Ocean Development (DOD) of the Government of India in 1981. A Centre dedicated to Antarctic Expeditions, named as ‘Antarctic Study Centre (ASC)’ was established at Goa in 1988. The ASC was subsequently upgraded into an autonomous institute National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR).
