Press Council of India (PCI), was established in the year 1966. It is an autonomous Central Statutory Authority, The Council was set up with the aim to ensure the part of the press and maintenance of high standards of public taste and to foster due sense of both the right and responsibilities of citizenship and encourage the growth of sense of responsible and public service among all those engaged in the profession of journalism.
The vision & mission of the council is to promote a proper facilities for education and training of personnel in the profession of journalism by improving technical and other research.
The prime objective of Council is to help newspaper to maintain their independence by building code of conduct for newspaper and journalists in accordance with high professional standards.
