Eligibility Criteria for RailTel Apprentice 2026

Candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions before applying. Only eligible candidates will be considered for the merit list.

Educational Qualification

• Graduate Engineer: Full-Time Regular Four Years Engineering Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electronics & Telecommunication, Telecommunication, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or any combination where Electronics is a main branch (e.g., Electronics & Instrumentation) – with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
• Diploma Engineer: Full-Time Regular Three Years Diploma in Engineering/Technology in the above-mentioned streams – with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
• Also eligible: Candidates who have passed Sections A and B of Institution of Engineers (India) or Graduate Membership Examination of IETE in relevant branches.

Age Limit

18 to 27 years as on 28 July 2026. Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC as per government directives.

Other Conditions

• No prior apprenticeship or job experience of 1 year or more after qualifying.
• Candidates who have completed 3 years post qualification are not eligible.
• Only full-time regular courses from AICTE-approved institutions are accepted (distance/part-time not eligible).
• Candidates already undergoing or terminated apprenticeship elsewhere are not eligible.

RailTel Apprentice Stipend 2026

Selected apprentices will receive a consolidated monthly stipend (shared between RailTel and Government of India DBT).

Selection will be based on merit list prepared region/state/location-wise, with preference to candidates from Government Institutions. Shortlisting may include an interview if required.
