After the state of Chhattisgarh came into existence on November 01, 2000, all-round development has taken place in the state. According to the concept of small state and small administrative units, initially there were three divisions of Raipur, Bastar and Bilaspur in the state, then later Surguja division and recently Durg division. Today there are 5 divisions and 28 districts in the state and similarly in the past one Patwari was made light by merging three panchayats in the state. In view of the convenience of the rural people/farmers and timely execution of work, it has been decided to make one Patwari Halka at every 2 gram panchayat and work has been done to make the smallest unit of revenue department at the ground level more powerful and public utility than ever before. In view of the heavy workload in urban areas, work has been done to form one patwari halka per village and one revenue inspector board for 3 patwari halkas in municipal areas.
