Post-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale

SAIL has notified 11 Young Professional engagements across five divisions at Kolkata. Each engagement code corresponds to one vacancy. The grade determines the upper age limit, minimum experience requirement and monthly retainership fee.

Category-wise vacancy distribution (UR / OBC / SC / ST / EWS / PwBD) is not specified in the notification. Minimum age for all grades is 23 years, reckoned as on 15 October 2026.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

General Eligibility Conditions

• All Indian nationals aged 23 years and above (grade-wise upper limits: 35 / 38 / 42 years) as on 15 October 2026.
• Essential qualifications must be Regular / Full-time in the respective stream from a University / Institution recognised by UGC / AICTE / ICAI / ICMAI.
• Experience must be from a PSU, Government organisation, Public Limited Company, JV of PSUs, or a private firm with a valid CIN.
• CGPA-based grading is converted to equivalent percentage as per the institution's norms; candidates must produce conversion norms at the time of interview.
• Candidates employed in Govt. Departments / PSUs / Autonomous Bodies must produce an original NOC at the time of interview and a Release Order at the time of joining.

Post-Wise Essential Qualifications

Selection Process & Screening Clause

1. Scrutiny: Applications received by the closing date (15 October 2026) are scrutinised for fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
2. Screening Test (Conditional): If applications against an engagement exceed five (5) times the requirement, a Computer-Based / Aptitude / General Management / Psychometric Test may be organised. Candidates are shortlisted for interview in the ratio of 1:3 based on performance in the prescribed test. If more than one candidate obtains the cut-off marks, all are called for interview.
3. Direct Interview: If applications are fewer than five (5) times the requirement, all eligible candidates may be called for personal interview.
4. Centre Allocation: CBT / Personal Interview centres are allotted across the country as decided by management. The allotted centre is binding; no change of centre, interview date, or medical examination date will be entertained.
5. Travel Reimbursement for Interview: A single to-and-fro AC 2-Tier rail fare (with reservation and Tatkal charges, if any) is reimbursed from the correspondence address to the interview venue by the shortest route, provided the distance exceeds 30 km each way. For higher-class or road travel, reimbursement is restricted to the entitled class fare.
6. Joining Reimbursement: On joining, YP-1 and YP-2 candidates are reimbursed 2AC train fare from the nearest railway station. YP-3 candidates are entitled to economy airfare or 1AC train fare from the nearest railway station / airport.

How to Apply for SAIL Young Professional Recruitment 2026

Candidates must apply online only through the SAIL Careers portal at www.sail.co.in or sailcareers.com. No offline or walk-in application is accepted.

1. Read the advertisement carefully and verify eligibility before applying.
2. Click on "Login" or "Apply". New users must complete one-time registration first.
3. Fill in all required information, upload photograph (.jpg / .jpeg, up to 50 KB), signature (.jpg / .jpeg, up to 20 KB), and required documents as PDF files (each up to 300 KB).
4. Review all entered details. Once confirmed, no editing is allowed.
5. Pay the Rs. 500/- Registration & Processing Fee online (candidate bears payment gateway charges in addition to the fee).
6. Submit the application and download the system-generated Registration Slip with Application ID for future reference.

It is in the candidate's interest to apply for only one engagement. All communication is by e-mail / SMS; candidates must keep a valid personal e-mail ID and active mobile number throughout the selection process.

Required Documents & Instructions for Candidates

• Original Matriculation (10th) Certificate showing Date of Birth
• Pass Certificate of XII / B.E. / B.Tech / MBA / M.E. / M.Tech. / Ph.D. or any other qualification of the relevant discipline
• Experience Certificate(s) from the employer showing relevant post-qualification experience
• NOC from present employer (if employed under PSU / Autonomous Body / Govt. Department)
• Valid Category / Caste Certificate in prescribed format (if applicable)
• Photo Identity Proof – Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport or Voter ID
• Address Proof – Voter ID, Driving Licence, Aadhaar Card or equivalent
• CGPA / SGPA to Percentage Conversion Certificate (if applicable)
• Two recent passport-size colour photographs and a scanned running signature as per specifications

Important instructions: Admission at all stages is provisional and subject to verification of eligibility at the time of interview and joining. Joining is subject to a general medical fitness certificate from a qualified medical practitioner. Incomplete applications or applications without photographs, signatures, or required documents will be summarily rejected. The decision of SAIL CMO/EMD on eligibility, acceptance, rejection, and issue of call letters is final and binding.

SAIL Young Professional Important Dates

SALARY & OTHER BENEFITS (CONTRACTUAL – NOT PERMANENT)

Young Professionals receive a monthly consolidated retainership fee based on grade, with an annual increment of 4%, 7% or 10% subject to performance. The following benefits apply:

• Accommodation: Outstation candidates may receive 2-bedroom company accommodation (or equivalent rent of Rs. 6,000/month) subject to availability; YP-3 may receive 3-bedroom (or Rs. 10,000/month). No HRA is payable.
• Communication Allowance: Rs. 800 (YP-1) / Rs. 1,000 (YP-2) / Rs. 1,200 (YP-3) per month for official use.
• Medical & Insurance: Free OPD & IPD at Company hospital for self, spouse, and two dependent children. At city locations, OPD medical reimbursement of Rs. 2,000 / Rs. 2,500 / Rs. 3,000 per month (YP-1/2/3) plus insurance premium reimbursement up to Rs. 20,000 / Rs. 25,000 / Rs. 30,000 per year.
• Travel: Official tour entitlements as per grade (Rail 2AC/CC for YP-1; Air Economy / Rail 2AC for YP-2; Air Economy / Rail 1AC for YP-3) with stay allowances of Rs. 2,000 – Rs. 3,000 per day.

Not payable: No PF, Pension, Gratuity, PRP, terminal/service benefits, or any perks beyond those specifically listed in the advertisement. This engagement is fixed-term and contractual — it does not confer permanent government job security or lifetime pension.
