The Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education & Research (SMIMER) was established in the year 2000. The motto of establishment of the institution is to provide tertiary level Health Care to its citizens and for quality medical education to the student, the Corporation of Surat realized the need for the Medical College in the city, which could provide Medical Services and Excellent Medical Education.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India, New Delhi .Guide and regulating the institution on prescribed by Medical Council of India. Presently this institute has all civic amenities, batter infrastructural facility including building, equipment & instruments, staff and material required for patients to cater to the health.

Vision & Mission of the SMIMER is to promote and develop centre of excellence. This would provide state of art healthcare facilities to the people seeking medical services and provide excel in medical teaching and training and research activities, and provide quality medical education, medical science through discovery, research,scholarship and communication.
