Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the following degrees from a recognized university:

Age as on: 1st August 2026

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 30 years

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• Ex-servicemen: 5 years
• PwBD: 10 years

Selection Process

The selection for UPSC IES/ISS 2026 comprises two stages:

1. Written Examination (Part-I): Objective and Conventional papers totaling 1000 marks.
2. Viva Voce / Personality Test (Part-II): 200 marks.

Exam Pattern & Structure

The written examination consists of 6 papers. All papers are compulsory.

*Note: For IES candidates, Statistics papers are replaced by Economics papers.

Negative Marking

For the objective papers (Statistics I & II), there is a penalty for wrong answers. One-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
