Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess the following degrees from a recognized university:
For Indian Economic Service (IES):
- Post-Graduate Degree in Economics
- Post-Graduate Degree in Applied Economics
- Post-Graduate Degree in Business Economics
- Post-Graduate Degree in Econometrics
For Indian Statistical Service (ISS):
- Bachelor's Degree with Statistics OR Mathematical Statistics OR Applied Statistics as one subject.
- Master's Degree in Statistics OR Mathematical Statistics OR Applied Statistics.
2. Age Limit & Relaxation
Age as on: 1st August 2026
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- Ex-servicemen: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years
Selection Process
The selection for UPSC IES/ISS 2026 comprises two stages:
- Written Examination (Part-I): Objective and Conventional papers totaling 1000 marks.
- Viva Voce / Personality Test (Part-II): 200 marks.
