Post-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale

The three research titles represent one combined vacancy, not three separate posts. HRA is governed by the State Government rules applicable to Pay Matrix-1. Only Casual Leave is applicable, and TDS is deducted under prevailing income-tax rules.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

• Essential qualification: Postgraduate degree or PhD degree in Wildlife Science, Forestry, Environmental Science, Ecology, Zoology, Geography, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
• Desirable qualification: At least two years of working experience in the relevant domain.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Essential qualification: Postgraduate degree in Forestry, Botany, Zoology, Life Science, Experimental Biology, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Wildlife Science, Hydrology, Geology, Allied Science, Remote Sensing and GIS, Geography, Surveying, or a similar discipline from a recognized university.
• NET qualification or qualification through another national-level examination conducted by Central Government departments or agencies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DCS, DRDO, NHRD, ICMR, IIT, IISc, or IISER is required.
• Desirable qualification: At least two years of working experience in the relevant domain.

Junior Project Fellow (JPF)

• Essential qualification: Postgraduate degree in Forestry, Botany, Zoology, Life Science, Experimental Biology, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Wildlife Science, Hydrology, Geology, Allied Science, Remote Sensing and GIS, Geography, Surveying, or a similar discipline from a recognized university.
• Alternatively, BE, B.Tech, or Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution is acceptable.
• Desirable qualification: At least two years of working experience in the relevant domain.

Computer Operator

• Essential qualification: Intermediate or 10+2 from a recognized board, a minimum six-month certificate or diploma in computer operation or applications from a recognized institute, and proficiency in Hindi and English typing.
• The stated typing benchmark is approximately 4,000 key depressions per hour, or about 25–30 words per minute.
• Desirable qualification: At least two years of working experience in the relevant domain.

General conditions: Candidates must be Indian nationals and must not exceed 35 years of age on the advertisement publication date. The supplied notice does not specify any separate age relaxation.

Roles and Field Deployment

The Research Fellow will support Assisted Natural Regeneration, CAT Plans, Eco-Restoration Works, and Green India Mission research. Duties include field surveys, site-specific silvicultural plans, mapping, rapid mapping exercises, rootstock and carbon-stock calculations, baseline data collection, marking seed-bearing trees, establishing monitoring plots, maintaining research records, preparing monitoring reports, and training frontline staff.

Research Fellows may be deputed to the Narendra Nagar, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Tehri Dam-I, Tehri Dam-II, and Soil Conservation Forest Divisions under Bhagirathi Circle. The Computer Operator will handle data entry, government databases, drafting and office applications, G2C assistance, digital and physical record management, and basic maintenance of office computer equipment.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

1. Document scrutiny: A Screening Committee will verify essential and desirable qualifications, age, academic record, relevant field experience, and completeness of documents.
2. Shortlisting: If a large number of applications are received, candidates may be shortlisted to a reasonable limit using academic performance, experience, and relevant expertise.
3. Personal interview: Shortlisted candidates will be contacted through their registered email ID and mobile number for an interview conducted by the Selection Committee.
4. Document verification: Candidates must bring the original qualification documents, experience certificates, Aadhaar card, and four recent passport-size photographs to the interview.

The notice does not prescribe a written examination. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Contract Duration and Engagement Conditions

• The initial engagement is for 11 months from the date of joining and may be extended or renewed subject to performance and competent approval.
• The appointment is temporary and carries no claim to permanency, regularization, or regular employment with the Forest Department.
• Either the competent authority or the selected candidate may terminate the engagement with one month's notice in accordance with the notice conditions.
• A medical certificate of fitness from a Competent Medical Officer is required at joining, and government employees must provide a No Objection Certificate.
• The selected candidate must not accept or hold another assignment during the engagement period.
