Constitution and History

The state of Uttarakhand officially came into existence on November 9, 2000, following the Reorganisation of Uttar Pradesh Act, 2000. To facilitate the administrative needs of this new state, the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) was constituted by the Governor under the provisions of Article 315(1) of the Constitution of India. This establishment was formalized via Notification No. 247/1-Karmik-2001 dated March 14, 2001.
