Applications are invited from the India nationals for a research associate position in DBT (Govt. of India, New Delhi)-funded project (No. BT/PR3808/GET/119/340/2020) entitled “Development of an efficient food-grade genome engineering platform for Lactic Acid Bacteria using CRISPR-Cas9 of Lactobacillus fermentum M1” under Prof. Swadesh Ranjan Biswas, Principal Investigator, Department of Botany, Visva-Bharati. 1. Name of the post: Research Associate 2. Essential Qualifications: The applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in life science with research experience in molecular microbiology. Those who have already submitted their Ph.D. thesis are also eligible to apply. 3. Desirable Qualifications: Candidates with prior experience in Genome engineering by CRISPR/Cas9, vector construction and lactic acid bacteria would be preferred. 4. Fellowship: Rs. 50,760/- per month (including 8% HRA) 5. Tenure of the project: The tenure of the project is 3 years

Founded by the first non-European Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Thākur(popularly known as Tagore) in 1921, Visva-Bharati was declared to be a central university and an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament in 1951. The President of India is the Paridarsaka (Visitor) of the University, the Governor of West Bengal is the Pradhana (Rector), and the Prime Minister of India acts as the Acharya (Chancellor). The President of India appoints the Upacharya (Vice-chancellor) of the University.
In May 1951, Visva-Bharati was declared to be a Central University and "An Institution of National Importance" by an Act of Parliament. It was granted the status of a unitary, teaching, and residential university. The status and function of all the major institutions have been redefined in successive Amendments.
