Western Railway (RRC WR) ITI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 - Overview

The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Western Railway (WR) has released a massive notification for the engagement of Apprentices. This is a golden opportunity for ITI pass candidates to get training in various technical trades under the Apprentices Act, 1961. A total of 5349 vacancies have been announced for the year 2026. Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must meet the following educational requirements to be eligible for specific trades:

  • General Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10th Class (Matriculation) or its equivalent (under the 10+2 examination system) from a recognized Board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Technical Qualification: Must possess a valid ITI Certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized institute.

3. Mandatory Requirements

Selection Process & Merit Criteria

Since this is a Direct Recruitment for apprentices, there is NO written test or viva.

Selection Stages:

  1. Document Verification (DV): Based on the merit list.
  2. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must pass a medical fitness test.

Merit Calculation:

The merit list will be prepared based on the average of the percentage of marks obtained in:

  1. 10th Class (Matriculation) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  2. ITI Examination.

Equal weightage is given to both 10th and ITI marks.

Tie-Breaking Rule:

  • If two or more candidates secure the same marks, preference will be given to the older candidate.
  • If the date of birth is also identical, the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier will be given priority.
