Note: The appointment is purely temporary, non-sanctioned, and co-terminus with the project. Engagement is made on a fixed salary basis and will continue only as long as project funds are available.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Educational Qualification: M.Sc. (Horticulture) in one or more of the following disciplines:
  • Post Harvest Management
  • Post Harvest Technology
  • Food Technology
  • Food Science and Technology
  • Food Processing Technology
  • Fruit Science
• Desirable: PhD degree in the relevant disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates having experience in post-harvest handling of fruits with a good publication history.
• Nationality: Citizen of India.

Age Limit

• Minimum 18 years, maximum 45 years as on the last date of application.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories as per provisions in rules/instructions of the H.P. Government.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

1. Offline Application Submission: Candidates must download the prescribed form from uhf.ac.in, fill it completely, attach self-attested copies of essential qualification certificates, the application fee (IPO/BD), and physically submit the application to the Directorate of Research, YSP UHF, Nauni (Solan).
2. Interview / Document Verification: A walk-in style interview will be held on 02 November 2026 at 11:00 AM onwards at the Directorate of Research, Nauni (Solan). No separate interview call letter will be issued — candidates must check eligibility and appear directly.

Instructions for candidates appearing for the interview:

• Candidates must appear for the interview/evaluation of documents at their own expense. No TA/DA will be paid.
• Original testimonials must be produced at the time of interview for verification.
• Applicants currently working in any project should route their application through their Project In-charge / Head of Department.
• Only complete applications received by 28.10.2026 (05:00 PM) will be considered.

• Prescribed Application Form (downloaded from official website), fully filled and signed.
• Self-attested copies of M.Sc. Degree and all Consolidated Mark Sheets.
• Original testimonials to be carried for verification at interview.
• Category / Caste / PwD Certificate in H.P. Government format (if claiming fee concession).
• IPO or Bank Draft drawn on State Bank of India / UCO Bank Nauni (Solan)-173230, payable to: Comptroller, Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni (Solan).
• CGPA/OGPA to percentage conversion table/formula from the issuing university (if applicable).
• Candidates must write their mobile number and email ID on the application form.
• Recent passport-size photographs and valid Photo ID proof.

• The position is purely temporary, non-sanctioned, and co-terminus with the project.
• Engagement will be made on a service contract agreement executed on judicial stamp paper at the time of joining.

Is this a permanent government job?

No. The Junior Research Fellow position at YSP UHF is purely temporary and contractual. It is co-terminus with the project or subject to the availability of funds, whichever is earlier. The candidate will sign a service contract agreement on judicial stamp paper at the time of joining. This does not confer permanent government job security or pension benefits.

What is the salary structure for the JRF position?

The fixed monthly pay is Rs. 25,000/- for the 1st and 2nd year. Upon promotion to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the 3rd year, the pay will be Rs. 37,000/- per month (fixed). The salary is on a fixed consolidated basis and is not a regular government pay scale.

What educational qualification is required for the YSP UHF JRF post?

Candidates must hold an M.Sc. degree in Horticulture Post Harvest Management, Post Harvest Technology, Food Technology, Food Science and Technology, Food Processing Technology, or Fruit Science from a recognized university. A PhD in a relevant discipline and experience in post-harvest handling of fruits with a good publication record will be given preference.

Will YSP UHF pay travel expenses for appearing at the interview?

No. No TA/DA (Travel Allowance / Dearness Allowance) will be paid to candidates for appearing at the interview. Candidates must bear their own travel and accommodation expenses.
