Eligibility Criteria (In-Depth)

1. Educational Qualification

  • Essential: Master's Degree in Science OR Master's Degree in Agricultural Sciences from a recognized University.
  • Specific Specialization Requirements:
    • Genetics & Plant Breeding: M.Sc. in Genetics and/or Plant Breeding.
    • Sericulture: M.Sc. in Sericulture only.
    • Plant Pathology: M.Sc. in Plant Pathology/Plant Protection with specialization in Plant Pathology.
    • Plant Physiology: M.Sc. in Plant Physiology/Crop Physiology.
    • Agronomy: M.Sc. in Agriculture with specialization in Agronomy.
    • Soil Science: M.Sc. in Agriculture/Horticulture with specialization in Soil Science/Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry.
    • Agri-business Management: M.Sc. in Agribusiness Management / Agricultural Marketing & Co-operation.
    • Agricultural Extension: M.Sc. in Agricultural Extension/Extension Education/Communication.
    • Agricultural Statistics: M.Sc. in Agricultural Statistics/ Biostatistics.
  • ICAR Exam Requirement: Candidates must have appeared in the ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) – 2025 examination in the relevant subject specialization. Scores from other years or subjects will not be considered.

2. Age Limit

  • Upper Age Limit: 35 years.
  • Cut-off Date: Age is calculated as on 31st March 2026 (closing date of application).

3. Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation.
  • PwBD: 10 years (UR), 13 years (OBC), 15 years (SC/ST).
  • Government Servants: Up to 5 years relaxation as per Central Govt. rules.

4. Mandatory Requirements

  • Documents: Must possess valid certificates for reservation claims (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) by the closing date.
  • OBC Certificate: Must be based on income for FY 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25, issued on or after 01.04.2025.
  • EWS Certificate: Must be based on income for FY 2024-25, issued on or after 01.04.2025.

Selection Process

This recruitment does not involve a fresh competitive exam conducted by CSB. Selection is based on the merit rank derived from the ICAR AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) – 2025 examination scores.

Selection Stages:

  1. Shortlisting: Based on ICAR 2025 scores in the relevant subject specialization.
  2. Document Verification: Verification of original documents (Educational, Category, ICAR Scorecard, etc.).
  3. Interview/Personality Test: Only for shortlisted candidates.
  4. Final Merit List: Based on interview performance and ICAR scores. In case of a tie, the older candidate is given preference.
