1. Assistant Manager (T) Trainee – Electrical
- Essential Qualification: Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University. Accepted equivalent qualifications include Electrical Engineering, Electrical (Power) Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Power Engineering (Electrical).
- Minimum Marks: Minimum 60% or equivalent CGPA. Qualifying marks are relaxed to pass marks for posts reserved for SC/ST/PwBDs category.
- GATE Requirement: Valid GATE 2026 score in Paper Code "EE" (Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline).
2. Assistant Manager (T) Trainee – Non-Electrical
- Essential Qualification: Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science & Engineering from a recognized University. Accepted equivalents include Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Electrical Communication, Telecommunication Engineering for EC; Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology for CS.
- Minimum Marks: Minimum 60% or equivalent CGPA. Relaxed to pass marks for SC/ST/PwBDs reserved posts.

Age Limit & Relaxation

Important Notes on Qualification Recognition

Selection Process & Screening Clause
Stage 1: GATE 2026 Score-Based Merit Selection
- Selection is based solely on valid GATE 2026 scores (Normalized Marks out of 100). GATE 2025 or prior scores are NOT valid for this recruitment.
- Separate merit lists are prepared for each discipline: AM (T) Trainee – Electrical; AM (T) Trainee – Non-Electrical; AM (Civil) Trainee.
- The inter-se seniority of appointed candidates in the AM (T) cadre is regulated in a ratio of 9:1 between Electrical and Non-Electrical streams. After every 9 candidates from Electrical merit order, 1 candidate from Non-Electrical merit order is placed in the seniority list.
- The post of AM (Civil) Trainee constitutes a separate cadre; inter-se seniority is determined strictly by merit order.
Stage 2: Training Period (1 Year)
- Part A (3 Months): Academic training through NPTI (National Power Training Institute) or any other training institute as per DTL training policy, followed by successful passing of the training examination with minimum 65% marks.
- Part B (9 Months): Field training / on-the-job training in DTL substations and offices.
- Quarterly Review: Conducted by the Controlling Officer during the training period.
Stage 3: Final Assessment & Absorption
- Post-completion of the 1-year training, a final assessment for absorption is conducted by a Committee constituted by the Director (HR).
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum 65% in the final assessment for absorption.
- If the candidate fails to score the qualifying marks, services will be terminated and the candidate will not be absorbed in DTL. A representation may be made to the Director (HR) within 15 days.
- Absorption order is issued within 30 days of completion of training.
- On absorption, candidates are placed at Pay Level-10 (Rs. 47,600 – Rs. 1,51,100) with Central DA pattern and allowances.
Service Agreement Bond
- Selected candidates must execute a service agreement bond to complete the training period and serve DTL for at least 3 years post-training.
- Bond Amount: Rs. 5,00,000 (General/OBC-NCL/EWS); Rs. 2,50,000 (SC/ST/PwBD).
TA/DA Clause
- No TA/DA will be paid to candidates appearing in the recruitment process or appearing for training.
