Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Director

  • Essential Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in an appropriate branch.
  • Experience: Analogous Pay Level (16) or 5 years experience in Pay Levels 14 & 15 (Combined) managing a large scientific community or heading a reputed scientific institution. Excellent publication record, leadership experience, and national/international recognition are also essential. Experience in project implementation is necessary.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with government administrative and financial matters and managerial experience in a large research laboratory.

Age Limit

Candidate shall not be less than 50 years of age and shall not be more than 57 years of age as on 31 January 2026.

Selection Process

Appointment will be made by the Government of India on the recommendations of a Search-cum-Selection Committee. The Search-cum-Selection Committee constituted for the purpose of selection of the Director will consider applications received in response to this advertisement as well as nominations received from eminent persons.
