IGIMS Patna Walk-in Interview 2026 for Senior Residents

The Regional Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, has invited eligible Indian citizens for a Walk-in Interview on an ad-hoc basis for 89 days. If you hold an MD/MS in Ophthalmology and are registered with the Medical Council, this is an excellent opportunity to work with a premier autonomous institute under the Government of Bihar.

Eligibility Criteria for Senior Resident

• Essential Qualification:
  • A Medical qualification included in Schedule I & II of the NMC Act.
  • NMC recognized P.G. qualification of MD/MS (Ophthalmology).
  • Must be registered with the Central/State Medical Council.
• Age Limit: Upper age limit is 45 years as of the date of interview.
• Age Relaxation:
  • 5 years for SC/ST
  • 3 years for EBC (MBC) / BC
  • 3 years for all categories of Female Candidates

Selection Process & Scoring

The selection will be based on a marking scheme (Total 100 marks) and an interview. Minimum qualifying criteria:

• UR: 50th Percentile
• SC/ST: 40th Percentile
• BC/EBC/EWS: 45th Percentile

Scoring Scheme:
1. MBBS: 10 marks (-2 for each failure)
2. MS/MD/DNB: 10 marks (-5 for each failure)
3. Additional Qualification: 10 marks
4. Publication: 10 marks (2 marks each for PubMed max 6, 2 for others max 4)
5. Poster/Presentation: 10 marks (2 marks each, max 10)
6. Academic Award: 10 marks (2 marks each, max 10)
7. Specialized Training: 10 marks (3 months: 2 marks, 3-6 months: 5 marks, >6 months: 10 marks)
8. Project (extra/intramural): 10 marks
9. Subject Knowledge: 20 marks
