Educational Qualification: B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, 12TH, M.Sc, M.Phil/Ph.D

1. Position: Scientific Officer (Mouse Experiment related research)

2. No. of Vacancy: 1 

3. Salary: 60,000/- per month (consolidated)

4. Minimum Eligibility: Ph.D. in life sciences from a recognized University/Institute.

5. Desirable Qualifications: Thorough knowledge in mouse anatomy, dissection, tissue harvesting, histopathological tissue processing, tissue sectioning, staining.  

6. Job Responsibilities: Helping in mouse related experimentation and training Ph.D. students, animal technicians and research technicians. Providing help in designing experiments, writing IAEC protocols. Heling in day-to-day related experiments. Providing help in writing grants.

7. All positions must be contractual under SyMeC grant and for 6 months only, but can be extended to 1 year based on availability of funds. 

 

1. Position: Technician (Mol Bio Lab)

2. No. of Vacancy: 1 

3. Salary: 24,000/- per month (consolidated)

4. Minimum Eligibility: M.Sc. in any branch of sciences from a recognized Board/Institute.

5. Desirable Qualifications: Basic knowledge in animal science, mouse anatomy, and basic physiology. Basic knowledge of using computers for record-keeping and data analysis is required.

6. Job Responsibilities:

a. Candidates must have a thorough grasp of fundamental and practical knowledge of cell biology, immunology, and molecular biology techniques, including cloning and expression of proteins, with independent ability to execute the research work.

b. Preferences will be given to candidates who have prior practical experiences in working with viruses or infectious pathogens at the molecular and cellular level and are familiar with solvent-based extraction methods and handled instruments like fraction collector and liquid chromatography. Comfortable in familiarizing oneself with new software tools.

c. good communication skills for scientific writing and presentation is a must. Publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals will be preferred.  

d. The candidate will be expected to engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative research work.

7. All positions must be contractual under SyMeC grant and for 6 months only, but can be extended to 1 year based on availability of funds. 

 

1. Position: Technician (Animal House)

2. No. of Vacancy: 3

3. Salary: 20,000/- per month (consolidated)

4. Minimum Eligibility: B.Sc in any branch of Biological Sciences, preferably Zoology from a  recognized Board/Institute.

5. Desirable Qualifications: Basic knowledge in animal science, mouse anatomy, and basic physiology. Basic knowledge of using computers for record-keeping and data analysis is required.

6. Job Responsibilities:

a. Experimental mouse dissection, harvesting tissue, tissue processing for histology and immunohistochemistry, routine primary and cell culture work along with immunofluorescence, experiments. 

b. They should be comfortable working with mice, maintaining the colony as required, and taking care of the mouse health in the colony. 

c. As needed, they should also be willing to clean cages and maintain animal facilities from time to time.

d. The person should not be allergic to animals.

7. All positions must be contractual under SyMeC grant and for 6 months only, but can be extended to 1 year based on availability of funds. 

 

1. Position: Office Assistance

2. No. of Vacancy: 1

3. Salary: 30,000/- per month (consolidated)

4. Minimum Eligibility: B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. from a recognised Board/Institute.

5. Desirable Qualifications: Has proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office, Tally. Experience as an office assistant or in a related field.  Ability to write clearly and help with word processing when necessary.  Warm personality with strong communication skills. Ability to work well under limited supervision. Great communication skills.  

6. Job Responsibilities:

a. Handling incoming calls and other communications.

b. Managing the filing system and managing grant funds.

c. Recording information as needed.

d Greeting clients and visitors as needed.

e. Updating paperwork, maintaining documents, and word processing. • Helping organize and maintain office.

f. Performing general office duties and errands.

g. Organizing travel by booking accommodation and reservation needs as required. • Coordinating events as necessary.

h. Maintaining supply inventory.

i. Maintaining office as well as experimental equipment as needed. • Aiding with client reception as needed.

j. Experience as a virtual assistant.

k. Creating, maintaining, and entering information into databases

7. All positions must be contractual under SyMeC grant and for 6 months only, but can be extended to 1 year based on availability of funds. 

 

1. Position: Housekeeping Staff

2. No. of Vacancy: 4

3. Salary: 15,000/- per month (consolidated)

4. Minimum Eligibility: Senior Secondary from a recognized Board/Institute.

5. Desirable Qualifications: Basic knowledge in animal handling, cleaning and hygiene.  

6. Job Responsibilities:

a. They should be comfortable handling mice as required and willing to clean cages and maintain the animal facility.

b. Overall cleaning of the animal facility.

c. The person should not be allergic to animals.

7. All positions must be contractual under SyMeC grant and for 6 months only, but can be extended to 1 year based on availability of funds.

About Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER Kolkata)

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata) was established in 2006 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), Government of India.
