The Water Resource Irrigation & CAD Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, was established to take care of the Irrigation needs of the State and Water Supply is one of the basic needs of the mankind, by providing water to the crops through Reservoirs, Canals and other related sources.
The main Activities of Department are divided into three groups, Major Irrigation, Medium Irrigation and Minor Irrigation depending upon the magnitude and purpose. The Department deals with engineering activities like, Investigation, Research , Design, Execution, Quality Control of Different Projects, Headworks, Canals and Canal Structures.

Irrigation CAD Department takes care of the irrigation needs of the state of Andhra Pradesh and addresses the need of food, by providing water to the crops through its system comprising Reservoirs, Canals etc. Irrigation CAD Department deals with Investigation, research, Design, execution, Quality Control of different Projects, Head Works, Canals and Canal Structures. The works are divided in three groups: Major Irrigation, Medium Irrigation and Minor Irrigation depending upon the magnitude and purpose. Future Plans of Irrigation CAD Department are to implement schemes like Sripada Yellampally Project, Godavari Lift Irrigation, Indira Sagar(Polavaram) Project, Pulichintala Project, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Pranahitha Sujala Sravanthi Lift Irrigation Scheme, Dummagudem Project etc.
