Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Option A (General):
- Master's Degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Differently Abled/PhD degree holders who obtained Master's prior to 19 September 1991) or equivalent grade, in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or equivalent foreign university.
- AND cleared NET conducted by UGC/CSIR or equivalent test like SLET/SET, OR hold a PhD degree awarded as per UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 (subject to specified conditions like two external examiners, open viva voce, and research paper publication).
- NET/SLET/SET is not required for disciplines where it is not conducted by UGC/CSIR.
Option B (Foreign PhD):
- A PhD Degree from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the world by QS World University Rankings, THE, or ARWU by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
For Music Discipline (Alternative):
- Traditional and professional artist with commendable achievement, studied under noted/reputed traditional masters, holds "A" grade Artist status of AIR/Doordarshan, and has ability to teach theory with illustrations.

Domicile Requirement:Only candidates possessing a valid Domicile Certificate of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir are eligible.
Skills:Subject matter expertise, research aptitude, teaching ability, academic writing, curriculum development, student mentorship, and knowledge of higher education standards.
Salary: Pay Band: ₹15,600–39,100 + AGP ₹6,000 (Pre-revised) / ₹57,000 in Level-10 of the pay matrix.

Selection Process
Selection will be made as per Rule 45 of the JKPSC (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021, and includes:
- Written Examination: Single paper of 3 hours' duration, carrying 120 multiple choice questions. Syllabus is available on the official JKPSC website.
- Examination Centres: Srinagar and Jammu (centre allotment at the discretion of the Commission).
- Admit Card: Available for download about two weeks before the examination date on jkpsc.nic.in.
- Document Verification: Candidates must produce original certificates supporting all claims made in the application.
Important: Candidature is accepted only provisionally at the written exam stage. Claims not substantiated by proof at the verification stage will lead to cancellation.

- Visit Official Website: Go to www.jkpsc.nic.in.
- Complete/Update OTR: If not already done, complete the One Time Registration (OTR) with personal information, contact details, and educational qualification.
- Upload Photo & Signature: Upload a date-stamped recent passport-size colour photograph (not taken before 01.01.2026) and signature, sized between 10 KB and 20 KB in JPEG/JPG format.
- Login & Apply: Log in, click on "Show Examination" against the relevant post, select the notification month, and click "Apply".
- Fill Application Form: Read instructions carefully, fill all required fields, and review for correctness.
- Submit & Pay Fee: Click "Submit" to push data to the server, then pay the application fee online through the "Submitted Applications" menu.
- Upload Documents: Upload all mandatory and category-specific documents.
- Download Printout: Download and retain a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
Editing Window: Candidates who have successfully submitted the online application with fee will be allowed to edit some fields between 01.09.2026 and 03.09.2026.
Important: No hard copy of the application or documents is required to be submitted to the Commission. However, candidates must present a downloaded copy of the online application form along with original certificates at the time of document verification.

Key Instructions for Candidates
- Domicile: Only domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir with a valid Domicile Certificate are eligible. Certificates issued after the last date will not be entertained.
- Cut-off Date: The last date for receipt of online applications will be the cut-off date for determining eligibility related to acquisition of educational/professional qualification or any certificate on the basis of which reservation is claimed.
- Document Upload: No further opportunity to upload documents will be provided after the cut-off date.
- Examination Centre: Once a candidate is allotted an examination centre (Srinagar or Jammu), requests for a change of centre will not be entertained.
- Admit Card: Carry the Admit Card/Roll Number Slip, at least two recent passport-size colour photographs (not taken before 01.01.2026), and a valid original photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter's ID, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, or College/University ID Card) to the examination centre.
- Misconduct: Candidates found guilty of misconduct — including impersonation, submitting fabricated documents, making false statements, or using unfair means — may be disqualified and debarred from JKPSC examinations.
