Eligibility Criteria for Trainee Pilot

Essential Qualifications

• Master (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. I
• First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. II
• Second Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Gr. I
• B.Sc. Nautical Science

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2026)

• B.Sc. Nautical Science: Not exceeding 25 years
• Second Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Grade-I: Not exceeding 30 years
• First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. II: Not exceeding 35 years
• Master (FG)/Dredge Master Gr. I: Not exceeding 40 years
• Relaxation: Upper age limit relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST candidates and 03 years for OBC candidates.
• Note: The post is not suitable for PWD category.

Salary / Stipend Structure

• Master (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-I: Rs. 70,000/- – 2,00,000/- (Pay Scale)
• First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Grade-II: Rs. 60,000/- (Starting)
• 2nd Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Grade I: Rs. 50,000/- (Starting)
• B.Sc. Nautical Science: Rs. 40,000/- (Starting)

Selection & Service Bond

• Selection involves adjustment against regular Pilot post subject to passing requisite examinations.
• Maximum of 3 attempts allowed to pass each examination. Failure leads to termination.
• Bond: Selected candidates must execute a bond to serve SMP Kolkata for at least 5 years after qualifying as Pilot. Failure requires paying 6 months' salary + training costs.

Applications must be sent via post to the specified address. Follow these steps:

1. Download/Prepare application in the prescribed proforma (Bio-data format).
2. Attach two recent passport size photographs (duly signed).
3. Attach self-attested photocopies of: Caste certificate, Educational/Professional certificates, Age proof, CDC.
4. Put the application in a sealed envelope superscribed: "Application for the post of Trainee Pilot at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (erstwhile Kolkata Port Trust)".
