Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Senior Hydrographer

• Essential Qualification: First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Gr-II or Second Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Gr-I or B.Sc. Nautical Science.
• Experience: Refer to official notification
• Desirable: Refer to official notification

Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)

• Maximum Age: Not exceeding 25 years for B.Sc. Nautical Science.
• 30 years for Second Mate (FG)/Dredge Mate Gr.I.
• 35 years for First Mate (FG)/Dredge Master Gr-II.
• Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC & ST candidates and by 03 years for OBC candidates.

How to Apply

Application in the prescribed proforma (Annexure-I) furnishing detailed Bio-data including Name, Date of Birth, Permanent Address, Mobile and Residential Telephone numbers, Address of communication, Nationality, whether SC/ST/OBC/EWS (along with relevant verified certificates), Educational and Professional qualification, Experience and any other relevant information with two recent Passport size Photographs duly signed thereon, should be submitted in sealed envelope superscribing 'Application for the post of Sr. Hydrographer at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (erstwhile Kolkata Port Trust)' to the Director, Marine Department, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata at 15 Strand Road, Kolkata 700001. Self-attested photocopies of caste, educational and professional qualification certificates, age proof certificate, CDC should be enclosed.

Incomplete, unsigned, or applications received after the last date will not be considered. Selected candidates will be required to execute a BOND to serve SMP Kolkata for at least 5 years after qualifying as a Pilot, failing which they will have to pay an amount equivalent to the last 6 months' salary together with the cost of training.
