Krishi Vigyan Kendra commonly known as KVK is established throughout the country by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). These are farm science institutes that aim at testing, training, and transfer of agricultural technologies which functions on the principle of collaborative participation of scientists, subject matter specialists, extension workers, and farmers. The first KVK in Punjab was established in 1982 at Gurdaspur. The government of India has planned to open KVK in each district of the country.
