MPPSC Assistant Town Planner Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess one of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree (4-year duration) in Town Planning from a recognized institution, OR
• Postgraduate degree (M. Plan) in Town Planning / Urban Planning / City Planning / Housing Planning / Rural Planning / Infrastructure Planning / Regional Planning / Transport and Traffic Planning / Land Use Planning / Landscape Planning / Urban Design / Environmental Planning from a recognized institution, OR
• Passed the AITP (Associate of the Institute of Town Planners) examination.

Note: B.E. or M.E. in Transport and Traffic Planning is not considered valid.

Age Limit (as on 01.01.2027)

• Minimum age: 21 years
• Maximum age: 40 years
• Age relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer), women, and other eligible categories as per MP Government rules. However, the overall upper age limit after relaxation cannot exceed 45 years for any category.

The selection consists of two stages:

• Written Examination (OMR-based): Objective type questions with negative marking. Based on merit, candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be called for interview. If the total number of eligible candidates is less than 500, all will be shortlisted.
• Interview: 100 marks, minimum qualifying – 41 for UR, 31 for reserved/divyangjan. Final selection based on combined merit of written exam and interview.
