The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Pune [NCRA] of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research [TIFR] (an autonomous institute under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India) is an internationally reputed research institute. NCRA–TIFR is located inside the Pune University Campus. Facilities operated by NCRA-TIFR include, the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). Located about 80 KM north of Pune, GMRT is the world’s largest radio telescope at metre wavelengths. NCRA is on the lookout for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:
1. Position: Engineer Trainee (Electronics)
2. No of Post: 2 Posts; UR; HQ: Ooty
3. Stipend: Rs. 25,000 p.m. Tenure: Initial 1 year to be extended by one year (Max. 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance). No absorption after training.
4. Minimum Qualification: Full time BE/B.Tech. Degree in Electronics Engineering from a recognised Institute/university.
5. Nature of Job: Training in the field of Analog and Digital Electronics. Also FPGA based hardware and software system.
1. Position: Technical Trainee (Electronics)
2. No of Post: 2 Posts, UR; HQ: Ooty
3. Stipend: Rs. 16,000 p.m. Tenure: Initial 1 year to be extended by one year (Max 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance). No absorption after training.
4. Minimum Qualification: (1) B.Sc. (Physics/Electronics). Diploma in Electronics (ECE) and Electrical (EEE).
5. Nature of Training: Mainly doing observation with ORT. Telescope operation and receiving room maintenance. Computer operation.
1. Position: Technical Trainee (Electrical)
2. No of Post: 1 Post, UR; HQ: Ooty
3. Stipend: Rs. 16,000 p.m. Tenure: Initial 1 year to be extended by one year (Max. 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance). No absorption after training.
4. Minimum Qualification: (1) Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
5. Nature of Training: 22 KV HT/LT Installation related works/200 KVA & 40 KVA DG Set operation and maintenance/UPS & AC Electrical related systems and ORT electrical related motor control centre operating systems.
1. Position: Administrative Trainee
2. No of Post: UR; HQ: 2 Ooty
3. Stipend: Rs. 15,000/- pm. Tenure: Initial 1 year to be extended by one year (Max 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance). No absorption after training.
4. Minimum Qualification: (1) Graduate from a recognized university (2) Knowledge of typing & use of personal computers and applications.
5. Desired: Fluency in spoken and written English.
6. Nature of training: Training in the area of Accounts, General Administration, HR, Stores and Purchase.

15000 - 25000(Per Month)
Age Limit: Below 28 years.
Selection Procedure
1. If the eligible number of applications is large, the Centre will restrict the number of candidates for written tests by making a merit list of the applicants based on the marks in the basic qualification, number of years of experience and select reasonable number of candidates for each post.
2. Centre will conduct more than one written test, online test, skill test, for making a primarily merit list. This merit list is not a selection list. This merit list will be used to further shortlisting of the candidates for online interviews, wherever required.

The Centre has its roots in the Radio Astronomy Group of TIFR, set up in the early 1960s under the leadership of Prof. Govind Swarup. The group designed and built the Ooty Radio Telescope. In the early 80's an ambitious plan for a new telescope was proposed - the Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope. Since the site chosen for this new telescope was close to Pune, a new home for the group was built in the scenic campus of Pune University. The radio astronomy group morphed into the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics around this time.
