Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of one Senior Research Fellow and one Research Associate-III in the DBT multi -institutional project entitled “Targeting Pup1 independent mechanisms for improving low soil phosphorus tolerance and useefficiency in rice”.

3. Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.
4. Qualification: Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc. degree or equivalent (with minimum 60% marks) in Agriculture, Plant Science/Botany, life science or equivalent with two years of post M.Sc. research experience are eligible to apply. Candidates having laboratory experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or field experience of rice research would be given preference. The candidature must be supported with published research papers in standard refereed journals.

3. Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.
4. Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences (including Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Plant Physiology) or equivalent are eligible to apply. Candidates having prior experience in molecular biology especially, protein interactions studies, plant breeding, GWAS, QTL mapping studies would be given preference. The candidate must have published at least two papers as first author in reputed international journals.
5. The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship amount for the above positions is as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority.
6. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.

The National Institute of Plant Genome Research (formerly known as National Centre for Plant Genome Research) is an autonomous institution aided by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute's establishment coincides with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Bose. The formal announcement was made on November 30th 1997. This Institute has already placed India among the major contributors to plant genomics. It is hoped that in coming years, the ongoing efforts of NIPGR will allow India to emerge as one of the most important national and international resource institutes for material, knowledge and technologies in the areas of functional, structural, evolutionary and applied genomics of plants, including crop plants.
Genomics research is providing bridges between different branches of natural sciences and as a result it has seen logarithmic growth over last two decades. All biology research has been permeated by genomics and new ways of tailoring crops for the economic production of grains, vegetables, fruits, fibers, beverages, herbal medicines, pharmaceuticals and industrial molecules are emerging. The world is on the eve of bountiful harvests for mitigation of hunger and malnutrition and heralding of healthy living. NIPGR aims to contribute in the achievement of such hopes arising out of the current pace of genomics research.
