Eligibility for Visiting Student Counsellor
- Essential Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with minimum 60% marks from a recognized University with relevant experience of five years after the qualifying degree, out of which three years should be student counselling experience in a higher educational institution.
- OR Master’s Degree in Psychology with minimum 60% marks from a recognized University with relevant experience of three years after the qualifying degree, out of which minimum one year should be student counselling experience in a higher educational institution.
- Desirable Qualification:
- License holder of Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
- Ph.D in Psychology.
- Experience: As mentioned in the essential qualification criteria.
- Language Skills: The counsellor shall have excellent communication skills in Bengali, Hindi and English language.
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Render counselling service to all bonafide students and be available to staff and faculty during working hours.
- Act as the point of contact for students requiring interpersonal/emotional counselling.
- Comfortable working with students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
- Maintain confidentiality but report to Dean (NIPER-Kolkata) of any extreme cases.
- Coordinate with the Institute Medical Officer.
- Conduct workshops, talks, and group discussions to help students with academic, interpersonal, and emotional needs.
- Conduct separate orientation sessions for students, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff once a year.
- Maintain a database of the mental well-being of students.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be based on an In-person interview only. Candidates of Indian nationality can only apply. Preference will be given to candidates staying in Kolkata.
