Note: Training slot counts are provisional and may increase or decrease based on the Railway administration's actual requirements at the time of finalising selection. Slots are further distributed trade-wise and category-wise (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) within each unit. Reserved seats for PwBD and Ex-servicemen are included within the total slots for each trade. Candidates must verify that a training slot exists for their specific ITI trade in the chosen unit before applying.

Age Relaxation: SC/ST: 5 years | OBC: 3 years | PwBD: 10 years | Ex-servicemen: Up to an additional 10 years (defence service duration + 3 years, provided minimum 6 months continuous service).

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

  • Educational Qualification: Class 10 examination or equivalent (10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (no rounding off) from a recognised Board.
  • Technical Qualification: National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the notified trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT.
  • Age Limit: Minimum 15 years (completed) to maximum 24 years (not completed) as on 6 November 2026.
  • Reservation Documents: SC/ST candidates must produce caste certificates in Central Government format. OBC candidates must submit a Non-Creamy Layer Certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 in the Central Government format, along with an OBC declaration. EWS candidates must produce an EWS certificate in the prescribed format.
  • Ex-Servicemen / Armed Forces: Ex-servicemen and Armed Forces personnel (or their children) must produce a discharge certificate or Armed Forces serving certificate at the time of Document Verification.
  • Important: Candidates awaiting results of final examinations are not eligible to apply. The educational/technical qualification must be obtained from a recognised Board / Government University / Institute as on the date of application submission.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

  • Selection Method: Purely merit-based. No written examination or interview will be conducted.
  • Merit Calculation: A merit list is prepared using the simple average of the percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate, considering marks in all subjects) and the percentage of marks in ITI (as per the provisional/final NTC/SCVT certificate).
  • Tie-Breaking Rule: If two candidates have identical marks, the older candidate is preferred. If dates of birth are also identical, the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier ranks higher.
  • Merit List Basis: Separate merit lists are prepared for each unit, trade, and community, equal to the number of available slots, in descending order of percentage of marks. No centralised merit list is formed.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear for document verification with original certificates and a medical certificate as prescribed in Annexure-IV of the notification, signed by a Government-authorised Gazetted Doctor (not below Assistant Surgeon rank of a Central/State Hospital).
  • TA/DA: No TA/DA will be paid by the Railway administration to candidates appearing for Document Verification or for any other purpose related to this apprenticeship recruitment. Candidates must make their own travel arrangements.
  • No Hostel: No hostel accommodation will be provided during training. Selected candidates must make their own arrangements, as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
  • Contract of Apprenticeship: Before commencing training, the selected candidate (or their guardian, if a minor) must enter into a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer.
