The Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha, also known as the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, is the lower house of the State Legislature in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is responsible for making and passing laws, discussing important issues, and representing the interests of the people of Rajasthan.
The Vidhan Sabha consists of elected representatives called Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). The total number of MLAs in Rajasthan is 200. These MLAs are elected through a general election held every five years. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan is usually the leader of the political party or coalition that has the majority of seats in the Vidhan Sabha.
The Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha meets in the Vidhan Bhavan, located in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. The sessions of the Vidhan Sabha are presided over by the Speaker, who is elected by the members of the Assembly. The Speaker is responsible for maintaining order and conducting the proceedings of the House.
The Vidhan Sabha plays a crucial role in the governance of Rajasthan. It debates and deliberates on various matters such as the state budget, legislative bills, and policies proposed by the government. It also exercises oversight on the functioning of the executive branch and holds the government accountable for its actions.
