The fellowship follows DST OM No. DST/PCPM/Z-06/2022 dated 26 June 2023 read with OM No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30 January 2019, and the guidelines of the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Upgradation from JRF to SRF occurs in the 3rd year subject to satisfying the required experience and eligibility norms of DST/UGC.
Eligibility Criteria and Educational Qualification
- Essential Qualification (choose one pathway):
- Pathway A: Post Graduate Degree (MSc / MTech) in Atmospheric and Ocean Science, Earth System Science, Meteorology, Geophysics, Geology, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science from a Government-recognized University/Institute.
- Pathway B: BE / BTech / MTech degree in Meteorology, Atmosphere, Ocean, Marine, Mechanical, Civil, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology from a Government-recognized University/Institute.
- Mandatory National-Level Examination: Candidates must have cleared UGC NET, CSIR NET, GATE, or an equivalent national-level examination conducted by Central Government departments, agencies, or institutions.
- Desirable Qualifications (preference in shortlisting):
- Knowledge of Big Data Analysis and Display tools
- Mathematical Modeling and Climate Models
- Artificial Intelligence, HPC, LINUX
- Proficiency in MATLAB, C++, Python
- At least 60% marks at Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree level
