Eligibility Criteria – UPESSC Principal Recruitment 2026

Age Limit (as on 01.07.2026)

Maximum 62 years. No age relaxation specified as reservation for these posts is nil.

Educational Qualification

• Ph.D. degree from a recognized university.
• Minimum 15 years of teaching/research service as Professor or Associate Professor in universities/colleges/higher education institutions.
• At least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
• Minimum Research Score of 110 as per API format (Annexure-2).

For Law colleges, BCI norms apply. For B.Ed. colleges, NCTE norms apply.

Experience Requirement

15 years (180 months) of teaching/research/administrative experience at associate professor/professor level.

UPESSC Principal Selection Process & Exam Pattern 2026

The selection consists of a Written Examination (360 marks) and Interview (40 marks). Only candidates with 110+ Research Score are eligible.

Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer. Interview carries 40 marks. Difficulty: 50% average, 30% difficult, 20% most difficult.
