01 post of Junior Research Fellow in the project entitled "Assessment of egg parasitoid-host associations in the cultivated landscapes of West Bengal, through DNA metabarcoding and rearing, with special focus on Scelionidae (Hymenoptera: Insecta)" at the Zoological Survey of India, Head Qtrs., 'M' Block, New Alipore, Kolkata-700053, West Bengal, India. 1. Name of the Post: Junior Research Fellow 2. No of Post: 01 3. Educational Qualification: M. Sc. in Zoology/ Entomology/ Life Sciences /or equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University. 4. Desirable qualification: Relevant research experience in Zoology, taxonomy, GIS and molecular biology techniques, like DNA isolation, PCR amplificaton and also phylogenetic studies. Experience in field survey and field photography. Knowledge of local language (Bengali) desirable – since interaction with farmers and local people is essential 5. Duration: The project duration is 3 years. JRF appointment is Initially for one year, but may be extended further based on satisfactory performance of the researcher and also funding availability. 6. Place of Posting: Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), HQ, Kolkata. However, frequent travel to Pune will be essential since the molecular work will be under the supervision of the Co PI of the project, Dr. K. P Dinesh , Scientist D, Western Regional Centre ZSI, Pune-411044, Maharashtra. 7. Duties and Responsibilities: a) Extensive and intensive field surveys across the cultivated landscapes of West Bengal to collect the host eggs, rearing a well as preservation for metabarcoding works b) Identification of parasitic hymenoptera in general c) Metabarcoding of host eggs and DNA barcoding of host- reared parasitic wasps d) Description and Illustration of new taxa of parasitic wasps if any and generation of phylogenetic relationships.
