Online applications are invited from eligible young, bright and highly motivated individuals for the following position to work in the Institute:
1. Name of the position: Engineer Trainee (Web)
2. No. of position: One
3. Remuneration: Rs. 30,000/- per month (Consolidated)
4. Essential: B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology with minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade (aggregate) from a UGC recognized University/Institution.
5. Desirable Experience: Preference will be given to candidates having working knowledge in PHP and/or postgresql; Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, Jquery and OOPs concepts.
6. Job Description: Selected candidate will be a member of the Web Development team. Primary responsibility is to take care of routine website updates and testing web applications. Monitoring of server logs for bugs, security threats, etc. user support (technical clarifications, assistance in filling/uploading online forms, etc.) is also covered under the job profile. The institute working environment encourages learning and skill development.

1. It is open to the Institute to conduct written test to shortlist the candidates for interview in case the attendance of candidates is more.
2. The prescribed educational qualifications are minimum required and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all those candidates, the Institute reserves the right to limit number of candidates to be called for interview on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement and also conducting written test.
1. Candidates meeting the above requirements and willing to be considered for the above said position may submit application through online only. The Indian Institute of Astrophysics is a premier institute devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related physics. It traces its origins back to an observatory set up in 1786 at Madras which from the year 1792 began to formally function at its Nungambakkam premises as the Madras Observatory. In 1899, the observatory moved to Kodaikanal. In the year 1971, the Kodaikanal Observatory became an autonomous society, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. The headquarters were shifted to Bengaluru into its present campus in Koramangala in 1975. Today, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, the Institute ranks as a premier institution devoted to research and education of astronomy and physics in the country. The main observing facilities of the Institute are located at Kodaikanal, Kavalur,Gauribidanur and Hanle.
