Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Invites Application for Mechanic-A Recruitment 2021

Online Applications are invited from young, bright and highly motivated individuals for the following regular positions to work at IIA, Bengaluru and its other field stations/campuses. IIA reserves the right of posting the selected candidates at any of the IIA facilities as and when required. Current place of posting (in this advertisement) should be considered as initial place of postings.

1. Name of the Post : Mechanic ‘A’

2. No. of post : One (OBC)

3. Scale of pay : VII CPC Pay Matrix Level-2 (Pay Range Rs. 19900-63200)

4. Place of posting : Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, Kodaikanal (Tamil Nadu)

5. Qualification : SSLC with two years NCTVT certificate course (ITI) in the trade of Carpenter with at least 60% marks from a Govt. recognized Industrial Training Institute.

6. Experience: (a) Essential: 2 years experience with One year National apprenticeship training certificate (NAC) or 3 years experience in a reputed research institute or in a medium scale industry doing carpentry work. Conversant with interpretation of engineering drawings.

7. Desirable: Conversant with engineering drawings. Operational knowledge of the drafting software “AutoCAD” is an advantage.

8. Job description: Fabrication and manufacture of precision components/parts of Astronomical Instrumentation and developmental works. Assembly and integration of precision instruments. Maintenance of mechanical systems. Assist in the maintenance of clean room lab and required to attend the emergency maintenance and testing work during nights and should be willing to work on shift basis.

Selection Procedure

1) Selection to post/s will be on the basis of initial screening, and then qualifying in the Written &/or Skill test. Where the number of applications received in response to the Advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the IIA to conduct test to all those candidates, the IIA has the right to limit the candidates to be called for test on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the Advertisement.

2) Written test &/or skill test for the above posts will be held at Bengaluru.

3) Qualification and experience prescribed is the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make candidates eligible for written test. Initial screening will be conducted based on the academic performance and experience. List of shortlisted candidates and the date of written &/or skill test will be notified in the Institute website. Admission Card for written &/or skill test will be sent only through e-mail.

4) The Institute reserves the right to conduct a skill test, if necessary, for the candidates who qualify written test. In case it is decided to conduct the skill test, the list of shortlisted candidates, date and venue will be notified in the Institute website and intimation will also be sent only through e-mail. 6) Final list of selected candidates will be notified in the Institute website.
