Educational Qualification: B.Tech/B.E
1. Post Name: Chief Mechanical Engineer/Project
2. NO of Post: One (1) post in SAG/SG on deputation
3. Location: Corporate Office, Belapur, Navi Mumbai.
4. Deputation and Term of Deputation: 3 years, normal term of deputation. Extendable upto five (05) years.
5. Scale Of Pay: SAG/SG As per 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-14. Or As per 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-13.
6. Pay and Allowancees: The officer will draw pay and allowances as per DOPT instructions. which would have been admissible to him/her from time to time on the Railways plus deputation (duty) allowance.
7. Eligibility:
a. IRSME Officer working in PML-14 of 7th CPC or Mechanical Engineer Executives working in other PSU in IDA scale E8 (Rs.1,20,000-2,80,000) OR Officers of IRSME cadre of Indian Railways and working in PML-13 of 7th CPC with Mechanical Engineer Executives working in other PSU in IDA scale E6 (Rs.90,000- 2,40,000) with 15 years experience
b. 15 years experience or Minimum working experience of 15 years of service in Group A in Indian Railways/other Govt. Deptt / PsU.
c. He will liaison with Zonal Railways in Operations and Projects related activities. He will look after Rolling Stock Infrastructure, related projects and activities of Mechanical Department reporting to CME KRCL 0&M and Technology

The Konkan Railway was the missing link between India’s commercial capital, Mumbai, and Mangalore. The 741-kilometre line connects Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka States — a region of criss-crossing rivers, plunging valleys and mountains that soar into the clouds.
The Konkan is a coastal strip of land bounded by the Sahyadri hills on the east, and Arabian Sea on the west. The formidable terrain to be conquered and the short construction period meant that the project could only be completed with the help of several technological innovations. Apart from setting a trend for other infrastructure projects in the country, the Konkan Railway provides concrete proof of the skills of Indian engineers, their discipline, team spirit and courage. But it is also a tribute to the unconquerable human spirit. Beyond the technical jargon, it was a leap of faith that made the long cherished dream of the people of the region possible.
The Konkan Railway has also in a way changed the lives of the Engineers and otherpeople associated with the project. For them it was the glory of overcoming all odds, and the satisfaction and pride that they have built something for posterity.
The completion of the Konkan Railway was a “tryst with destiny” for many people in the Konkan region, redeemed in the 50th year of the nation’s Independence. It is hence entirely fitting that the first train on the completed track was flagged off on January 26, 1998, Republic Day.
Konkan Railway Corporation Limited is a subsidiary of Indian Railways. The headquarter is located at CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai. Konkan Railway station became fully operational on 26th January 1998. The anti-collision devices, the Sky Bus and RORO has been innovated by Konkan Railway Corporation. Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) looks after the 760km stretch from Mumbai to Mangalore.
