About Mira Bhaindar Municipal Corporation

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) serves as the civic governing body of the vibrant city of Mira-Bhayandar in Thane district, Maharashtra. Originating as a municipal council in 1985 by integrating several Gram Panchayats, it was upgraded to a municipal corporation in 2002 to better manage the region’s burgeoning population, recorded at around 809,378 as per the 2011 Census. MBMC oversees essential civic services including solid waste management, water supply, roads, health, and more. One of its standout achievements is the digitized, QR-based waste segregation system, covering over 250,000 households and more than 30,000 commercial entities, earning MBMC a prestigious SKOCH Award in 2024.

MBMC is guided by an appointed Administrator (currently Radhabinod Aribam Sharma, IAS) in lieu of elected representatives, following the completion of municipal limits and legal delays in holding elections. The Corporation operates through Indira Gandhi Bhavan, located on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road in Bhayandar (West), administering a range of services including e-services like property and water tax payments, grievance channels such as WhatsApp and a toll-free number, along with operational complaint systems.
