About National Institute for Research & Development in Defence Shipbuilding

NIRDESH, the National Institute for R&D in Defence Ship building has been set up as an autonomous society of the Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence production, with the vision of achieving complete self reliance in warship and submarine building. An interim head office has been set up at Calicut. The immediate, short term and long term goals have been defined, and operations have commenced in training and R&D, to meet the requirements of member organizations. Activities of collaborative projects, consultancy, design and data archiving are also in the pipeline as per the defined immediate roles.
