- Only retired police officers of Odisha Police in the ranks of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Sub-Inspector (SI), or Inspector (IP) are eligible.
- Retired personnel from Battalion Cadre or CAPF / Ex-Servicemen are NOT eligible to appear for the selection test.
- Candidates must be permanent residents of Odisha and must be able to speak, read, and write Odia.

- Age must not exceed 65 years as on the date of publication of the advertisement (01-10-2026).
- Must have served in State Police in the rank of ASI / SI / Inspector.
- Must possess a Good or Very Good CCR/PAR for a continuous period of sixty months before superannuation.

Selection Process and Screening Stages
The selection process comprises the following sequential stages:
- Verification of Original Documents: All original service records and certificates will be verified.
- Medical Test: Candidates will undergo a medical examination to confirm physical fitness. Persons with physical deformities will not be eligible for appointment.
- Physical Test: Candidates must cover a distance of 5 (five) kilometres on foot within one hour.
- Interview: Candidates qualifying in the medical and physical tests will appear before the Selection Board for a personal interview.
