The High Court of Tripura is the highest judicial body in the Indian state of Tripura. It is located in the capital city, Agartala. The court serves as the apex court for the state and has jurisdiction over civil, criminal, and constitutional matters.
The High Court of Tripura was established on 23rd March 2013, following the reorganization of the former High Court of Assam and Tripura into two separate high courts. The court plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for the people of Tripura.
The High Court of Tripura consists of a Chief Justice and other judges appointed by the President of India. The Chief Justice is the head of the court and is responsible for the overall administration and functioning of the judiciary. The judges are appointed based on their qualifications and experience in the legal field.
The High Court of Tripura has appellate jurisdiction over the lower courts in the state, including district courts and subordinate courts. It hears appeals against the judgments and orders passed by these lower courts. The court also has the power of judicial review, allowing it to examine the constitutionality of laws and government actions.
