Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
- Scientific Officer – Qualification: At least 2nd class M.Sc. in Forensic Science (with specialization/dissertation work/course work/project work in the field of Chemical Sciences) OR at least 2nd class M.Sc. in Chemistry / Bio-Chemistry / Pharmacy / M.S.(Pharm.) / M. Pharm. from a recognized University.
- Scientific Officer – Experience: Minimum three (03) years of post-qualification experience in Research, Training and Analytical Work within the specified subjects.
- Age Limit: 18 to 45 years as on 1 January 2026.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/WFF/Persons with Disabilities of Himachal Pradesh – 5 years; HP Government Employees and Ex-Servicemen of HP – as per Government instructions.
- Desirable: Ph.D. degree in a relevant subject; knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh.
- Reservation: Benefits available only for bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh.
- Disqualification: Candidates dismissed from previous Govt/Semi-Govt service, convicted of offences involving moral turpitude, or un-discharged insolvents cannot apply.
Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection will be conducted through the following stages:
- Paper-I (Computer Based Test or Offline Screening Test): 100 objective type MCQs (Part I: Himachal Pradesh General Knowledge – 30 marks; Part II: National & International Affairs – 30 marks; Part III: Hindi Language – 20 marks; Part IV: English Language – 20 marks). Duration: 1 hour each.
- Paper-II (Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test): 120 marks. Duration: 3 hours.
- Personality Test: 30 marks.
- Negative marking of 0.25 marks for wrong answers, multiple answers, or blank answers without Option E.
- Minimum pass marks in Subject Aptitude Test: 45% (General) and 40% (Reserved categories).
- Entry into the examination venue shall be closed 30 minutes before commencement.
