Age Limit: 18 to 30 years (relaxable for Govt. servants upto 40 years in accordance with the instructions/ orders issued by Central Govt from time to time.
1. The selection of candidates will be based only on the merit in written examination. However, the skill / physical tests wherever required will be conducted, but will only be qualifying in nature with no bearing on the overall merit. Exact date, time and venue of written examination, skill / practical test will be communicated vide call letter issued to the short listed candidates.
(i) Written test :
Written test is to be conducted for Group ‘C’ and upgraded Group ‘C’ posts. The qualifying marks in written exam is 50% and the candidates who qualify the written test are to be shortlisted for the trade test (where applicable). In case of SC and ST candidates, the qualifying marks shall be 45%. No relaxation in qualifying marks is admissible to OBC and EWS candidates.
(ii) Trade / Skill Test :
Trade/skill tests are devised to check the performance / aptitude of a candidate for the said trade. Separate skill tests are to be administered for each trade. The candidates who qualify the written test are to appear for the trade/skill test. The trade/skill test wherever required will only be qualifying in nature and shall have no bearing on the overall merit.

The Indian Coast Guard is a multi-mission organization, conducting round-the-year real-life operations at sea. Despite being relatively small, it has a wide range of task capabilities for both surface and air operations. The organization is headed by the Director General Indian Coast Guard (DGICG) exercising his overall command and superintendence from the Coast Guard Headquarters (CGHQ) located at New Delhi. At CGHQ, he is assisted by four Deputy Director Generals of the rank of Inspector General, and other senior officers heading various staff divisions. For effective command and control, the Maritime Zones of India are divided into five Coast Guard Regions, namely, North-West, West, East, North-East and Andaman & Nicobar, with the respective Regional Headquarters located at Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Port Blair. The Coast Guard Regions are commanded by Officers of the rank of Inspector General. The regions are further divided into twelve Coast Guard ‘Districts’, one each for the nine coastal states on the mainland, two in the Andaman & Nicobar Region, and one at Kavaratti in the Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands. Each Coast Guard District comprises of one or more Coast Guard Stations. In addition, there are Coast Guard Air Stations (CGAS) and Air Enclaves (CGAE) for air operations from various locations along the coastline.
