  • Merit-Based Selection: For Apprentices and certain trainee roles, selection is based on the aggregate percentage in 10th/ITI or Degree.
  • Direct Interview: Senior managerial roles involve shortlisting followed by a personal interview conducted at the Corporate or Zonal office.
  • Medical Fitness: All selected candidates must pass a medical fitness test as per the IRCTC standard for 'on-board' or 'office' duties.

How to Crack IRCTC Exams

For Hospitality roles, focus on FSSAI standards and customer service protocols, as these are the cornerstones of IRCTC’s interview assessments. For CA/CMA roles, knowledge of ERP/SAP and Indirect Taxation is highly sought after. Since many positions in 2026 are contractual, your 'Soft Skills' and ability to handle high-pressure travel environments are as important as your technical degree. Always ensure your application is submitted in the prescribed format available on the irctc.com portal under the 'HR & Careers' section, as non-standard resumes are frequently disqualified during walk-in screenings.
