The Intelligence Bureau (IB) is India’s domestic internal security and counter-intelligence agency. Established in 1887, it is regarded as the oldest intelligence agency in the world. Working under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the IB is primarily tasked with gathering intelligence within the country, countering terrorism, monitoring potential threats, and providing inputs on internal and external security matters. The agency also plays a key role in border security, counter-espionage, and safeguarding sensitive government establishments.

Over the years, the IB has significantly expanded its scope to deal with evolving challenges such as cyber threats, extremist movements, and cross-border infiltration.
