Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Only retired Odisha Police personnel are eligible to apply for the SPO posts. The following conditions must be met to appear in the selection test:
- Must have retired from Odisha Police in the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector, Sub-Inspector or Inspector of Police.
- Must be a permanent resident of Odisha.
- Must not exceed 65 years of age as on the date of publication of the advertisement.
- Must be able to speak, read and write Odia.
- Must have an unblemished service record with no criminal case pending against them.
- Must not have been convicted in any criminal case or awarded any major punishment in departmental proceedings during service.
- Must not have more than one spouse living.
- Must have had a very good / good CCR / PAR for a continuous period of sixty months before superannuation.
- Must have vacated their quarter, if allotted earlier.
Selected candidates are required to execute an agreement for re-employment on contract basis for a period of not more than one year.

Selection Process & Screening Clause
The selection test will be conducted at the Reserve Police Ground, Raurkela on 23 October 2026 at 06:30 AM. The selection process consists of the following stages:
1. Document Verification

2. Medical Test

3. Physical Test

4. Interview
Candidates who qualify in both the medical test and the physical test will appear before the Selection Board for an interview. The Board will assess the suitability of candidates for appointment as Special Police Officers.

Re-employed persons will have to wear the uniform and badge as prescribed by the D.G. & I.G. of Police, Odisha.
