Salary and Pay Scale

Pay Scale: Level-12: ₹1,01,500 – ₹1,67,400 in pay matrix under 7th CPC plus NPA (for medical personnel).

Essential Qualifications

For Medical Candidates:

  • Medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or Part II of the third schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956.
  • Postgraduate qualification (MD/MS) in the respective specialty from an Indian University/Institute recognized by MCI/NMC.
  • Registration with State Medical Council/MCI.
  • Experience: 3 years teaching and research experience in a recognized Institution in the concerned/allied subject after obtaining the qualifying degree.

For Non-Medical Candidates (Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology):

  • Master's degree (regular course recognized by UGC or equivalent) in the respective discipline.
  • Ph.D. degree in the concerned discipline/subject from an Indian University/Institute or equivalent from a foreign University recognized by UGC.
  • Experience: 3 years teaching and/or research experience in the discipline/subject concerned after obtaining the Ph.D. Degree.

Note on DNB Equivalence: Candidates with DNB qualifications must produce documentary evidence of equivalence with MD/MS as per MCI notification dated 31.10.2018 & 14.11.2022. Additional experience may be required based on the institution where DNB training was undertaken.

Age Limit (as on 15.10.2026)

  • Upper Age Limit: 50 years.
  • Relaxation: SC/ST: 5 years; OBC: 3 years; PwBD: 10 years; PwBD + SC/ST: 15 years; PwBD + OBC: 13 years; Central Govt. Civilian Employees: 5 years (UR), 8 years (OBC), 10 years (SC/ST). Maximum age for PwBD after relaxation shall not exceed 56 years.

Selection Process

  • Scrutiny: Applications received within the prescribed date and time with requisite fee will be scrutinized by the scrutiny committee.
  • Shortlisting: Only eligible candidates will be called for personal interview. If the number of applicants is large, the selection committee may devise a criteria for short-listing, which may include holding a written examination.
  • Interview: Candidates for Assistant Professor will be required to make a presentation (05 minutes) on their work/achievements before the selection committee. The presentation should be prepared in Microsoft PowerPoint and submitted via email at least three days before the interview.
  • Document Verification: All original certificates/documents will be verified at the time of interview.
  • Medical Fitness: Selected candidates must be declared medically fit by the competent authority.

Candidates must apply offline (hard copy). Follow these steps:

  1. Visit Website: Go to the PGIMER website www.pgimer.edu.in.
  2. Generate Challan & Application Form: Fill in (i) Advt. No., (ii) Post Code (FACULTY/002A), (iii) Category, and (iv) Date of Birth on the website. Take a printout of the application form and challan. The form is to be filled in BLOCK LETTERS.
  3. Deposit Application Fee: Visit any branch of State Bank of India with the fee payment challan (Triplicate) and pay the prescribed fee in the "Power Jyoti" PUL current account of PGIMER (Account No. 35700657347). Ensure the bank provides a Journal No./Challan No. on the challan.
  4. Fill Application Form: Fill all fields of the application form completely. Mention the Journal/Challan number in the space provided.
  5. Attach Documents: Attach self-attested copies of all required certificates (educational qualifications, experience, age/date of birth, No Objection Certificate, etc.) along with one copy of the challan form.
  6. Submit Application: Send the complete application form along with documents through Registered Post or Speed Post or submit personally to:
