Subject: Engagement of Staff on Contract basis in SAI. Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Division, Sports Authority of India (SAI), Delhi, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India invites applications for engagement of staff on contract basis. The employment is initially for a period of two years extendable by one year. 1. Position: Senior Lead (Sport Science)

2. No of Post: 01

3. Tenure: The contractual engagement will be initially for a period of two years extendable by one year on the basis of satisfactory performance.

4. Remuneration: Rs. 80,000-1,45,000/- (Remuneration within the pay range, matching the last pay, will be decided by the interview panel at the time of interview.)

5. Eligibility Criteria: 

I. Essential Qualification: Master’s Degree / Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Science (or related discipline) from a recognized University.

II. Desirable Qualification: Degree in Exercise Science / Exercise Physiology / Sports Physiotherapy / Nutrition / Human Movement and equivalent from a recognized University.

III. Essential Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant field like Sports Physiology/ Sports Physiotherapy/ Nutrition / Human Movement. This will be counted only if the same is acquired after completion of essential qualification.

IV. Desirable Experience: Experience in any Government/ Semi Govt./Autonomous/ PSU / Private Sector in sporting domain shall be considered. Excellent knowledge of office software like MS office, Excel, Power point etc. and research tools. Experience of working at elite level (olympic sports) is desirable. Candidates who have participated in nationals and international level in olympic sports disciplines would be given preference. Research experience in the field of sports science. Good understanding of Athlete Management System.

6. Senior Lead (Sport Science) will undertake following tasks:

I. Assist the Head (Sport Science) and the sport science cell to evaluate sports science infrastructure, sport science personnel and sport specific high performance centres.

II. To assist in identification of sports science interventions required for the athletes and enabling them to reach their peak performances.

III. Assess the long-term plans of the athletes keeping with the principles of periodizations.

IV. Evaluate proposals seeking sports science support and provide appropriate recommendations thereafter.

V. Conduct literatures review and evidence based research to guide TOPS athletes on their respective sports science needs.

VI. Develop strong working relationships with key coaches and support staff of TOPS athletes, with a common passionate goal to enhance performance.

VII. To meet and interact with the TOPS athletes, chief coaches, officials of NSFs and support staff of athletes on regular basis to review the current state of the scientific support provided and do a gap analysis.

VIII. To prepare a database of national and international reputed sports science experts to establish and activate a high performance network.

IX. Lead and supervise project work or applied research across the organization as appropriate.

X. Assist in the creation of a roadmap of integrating sport science services in the high performance ecosystem.

5. Eligibility Criteria:

I. Essential Qualification: Degree in Sports Science (or related discipline) from a recognized University.

II. Desirable Qualification: Master’s Degree /Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Management from a recognized university.

III. Essential Experience: Minimum of 1 year (in relevant field as mentioned in JD). This will be counted only if the same is acquired after completion of essential qualification.

IV. Desirable Experience: - Preference will be given to person with work experience in the relevant field. Candidates who have participated in nationals and international level in olympic sports disciplines would be given preference. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent knowledge of office software like MS office, Excel, Power point etc. and research tools. Research experience in the field of sports science. Good understanding of Athlete Management system.

6. Lead (Sports Science) will undertake following tasks:

I. Assist the Head (Sports Science) and Senior Lead (Sports Science) to identify potential sportsperson in different sports discipline to make an extensive study & to develop a network of Indian and Global sport science personnel.

II. To assist in evaluation of the long term plan of the athletes and proposals seeking sport science support.

III. Provide the detailed analysis of support staff like foreign coach, physiotherapist, nutritionist, strength & conditioning expert etc required for monitoring performance of an athlete and for presentation to the MOC members to take an informed decision.

IV. Develop protocols for regular monitoring of the athletes and activating an athlete monitoring system. Ensure continue testing and data collection from a practical field of play environment.

V. Work closely with the ground coaches and support staff to ensure relevant scientific advice is relayed appropriately and utilized effectively.

Selection Procedure

Candidate will be shortlisted in the ratio of 1:5 with following criteria for which necessary documents to be attached along with the application

1. Senior Lead (Sports Science)

i. Weightage for marks obtained in essential qualification (maximum - 40 marks) with further break-up as given below:

a. Greater or equal to 75% - 40 marks

b. 60% to less than 75% - 30 marks

c. 45% to less than 60% - 20 marks

d. Less than 45% - 0 marks

ii. Weightage for work experience (maximum 40 marks) with further breakup as:

a. 8 years and above - 30 marks

b. 5 years to less than 8 Years- 25 marks

c. 3 years to less than 5 years- 20 marks

d. Less than 3 years- 0 marks

iii. Sports participation at national and international level in olympic disciplines- maximum 10 marks

iv. Publication of research papers: maximum 10 marks.

2. Lead (Sports Science)

3. Interview Process: 

a) The final selection will be based on interview of candidates by a committee.

b) The interview will be of 100 marks.

c) The shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview
