The UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research (UGC-DAE CSR) is an autonomous institution established by the UGC, New Delhi with its head-quarter at Indore and Centres at Indore, Mumbai and Kolkata. This Consortium also has a Node near IGCAR at Kalpakkam. Each Centre is headed by a Centre-Director.
i. The UGC-DAE CSR coordinates research from scientists/teachers from all Indian universities and academic institutes on major facilities like Dhruva reactor, Variable Energy Cyclotron, Indus Synchrotron, etc. established by the Department of Atomic Energy. In addition, the Centres are also having many advanced research facilities including in the areas of condensed matter physics or allied areas.

One (1) at Indore Centre and
One (1) at Mumbai Centre
3. Pay Band and Grade Pay: Level 11 in the 7th Central Pay Commission of Government of India
4. Minimum Qualification & Experience:
a. For the post at Indore Centre: M.Sc. (Physics) with 5 years research experience or Ph.D. in: Experimental Condensed Matter Physics having a high-level research expertise to work with Synchrotron Radiation, as supported by at least three publications in peer-reviewed journals.
b. For the post at Mumbai Centre: M.Sc. (Physics) with 5 years research experience or Ph.D. in: Experimental Condensed Matter Physics with high-level expertise in the area of Neutron Scattering, as supported by at least three publications in peer-reviewed journals.
c. For all posts, preference will be given to candidates having hands-on experience and proven capability of new value addition in the related area of research. The candidate will be expected to work closely with the consortium’s user community, which includes scientists and teachers from various universities and academic institutes.
d. Candidates having inadequate hands-on expertise in the required areas of research will not be called for interview.

2. The candidate will have to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1000/- through SBI Collect and include the transaction ID / UTR number at the online application portal. Women candidates will have to pay Rs. 500/-.

To promote interaction amongst the scientists working in the research centres of the Department of Atomic Energy and the faculty from the universities and other institutions of higher learning, and to enable young students to work on programmes of national importance under the joint guidance of the faculty from universities and the scientists of DAE so as to nurture an organic linkage between the university system and research centres of DAE, the University Grants Commission and Atomic Energy of new research facilities. Accordingly, the University Grants Commission created an Inter-University Consortium, with its headquarters at Indore for the utilization of the facilities established by the Department of Atomic Energy. The Inter- University consortium has over the years taken several initiatives to foster the interaction between the University system and the DAE institutions.
As per the present MoU, the collaboration between the Department of Atomic Energy and University Grants Commission will be expanded to cover the disciplines of physical sciences, chemical sciences, life sciences and engineering sciences. DAE will continue to make the major research facilities accessible to the researchers from the universities and institutions of higher learning through the consortium. It will also make available the infrastructural and accessorial facilities such as laboratories, library, workshop etc. necessary to carry on the research work. The UGC, through the Consortium, will continue to make suitable financial provision for the salary of the core scientific, technical and administrative staff, fellowship to research students, the travel and stay of the visiting faculty, and other recurring and non-recurring expenditure on the functioning of the Consortium. It will also provide an adequate grant for equipment and consumables.
