HPPSC SET 2026 – Apply Online for Assistant Professor Eligibility Test

The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released the notification for the State Eligibility Test (SET) 2026. This test is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and determines the eligibility for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor in Universities and Colleges located within the State of Himachal Pradesh.

Candidates aspiring to become Assistant Professors in Himachal Pradesh must qualify this examination. The SET will be conducted in Offline (OMR) mode across various centers in the state. Interested candidates must apply online before the closing date.

Vacancy Details: Subjects for SET 2026

The HPPSC will conduct the SET for the following 22 subjects:

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Assistant Professor (via SET)

• Essential Qualification: Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC.
  Note: For SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD of H.P. category candidates, at least 50% marks are required.
• Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in the SET.
• Subject Choice: Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only.

Exemption from SET

• Candidates awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with UGC Regulations 2022 are exempted from the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment as Assistant Professor.
• Candidates who cleared SET prior to 1st June 2002 are exempted from NET.
