IISER Pune Invites Application for Research Associate / Senior Research Fellow Recruitment 2021

Institute invites applications from Indian nationals having excellent academic record for the following positions purely on temporary and contractual basis under the funded project. Please read the advertisement carefully and then apply.

1. Name of the post: Research Associate (RA) / Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

2. Number of posts: 2 (Two)

3. Name of the Project: “Innovative Nucleoside Probes as Multifunctional Toolbox to Study RNA Structure, Dynamics and Function"

4. Minimum educational Qualification:

Ph. D. degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry with First class in Master’s in Science or equivalent degree. Candidates who have submitted their thesis may also apply (Thesis should be related to Bio-organic / Medical Chemistry or Chemical Biology)

5. Desirable:

i. Candidate should have a Ph. D. degree in Bio-organic or medicinal or chemical biology, good practical experience in synthetic organic chemistry, biophysics.

ii. Candidate with very good hands on experience in cell culture and imaging are preferred.

iii. The incumbent should also ideally possess good skills in synthetic organic chemistry and well versed with spectroscopy techniques to characterize small molecules as well biomolecules (e.g., nucleic acids).

iv. Should have hands-on-experience in handling instruments like fluorescence, CD, HPLC, etc.

v. This project will mainly involve the development of probes for understanding the structure-function relationship of non-canonical nucleic acid structures both in vitro and in cell models.

6. Tenure of the appointment: Initially for a period of six months which may be extended subject to continuation of the project and satisfactory performance of the incumbent.

7. Consolidated emoluments: 

i) Rs. 47,000/- + 24% HRA per month

ii) Candidates who have submitted their thesis but not completed defence (i.e. candidates without a provisional certificate of having qualified for the degree), will be designated as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) and paid Rs. 35,000/- + 24% HRA per month till the time of submission of Provisional Ph.D. certificate.

2. Shortlisted candidates may have to present their Ph. D. thesis in the form of presentation (5-6 power point slides), which will be followed by an interview.
